Desperta Ferro Ediciones will be in Mexico at the international conference «The industrial foundations of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon. An event of global relevance that has been possible thanks to the collaboration between institutions from Mexico, the Philippines and Spain. The symposium aims to explore in depth the transpacific route between Manila and Acapulco throughout its 250-year history . Top authorities on the subject from Mexico, the Philippines, Australia, Peru and Spain will analyze the administrative, organizational, social, material, financial and technological foundations that made the flourishing and maintenance of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon possible. With a total of 22 interventions by different specialists, the international symposium will host Desperta Ferro Ediciones in Mexico during the second day, with the talk-presentation by Javier Gómez «From academia to society: high dissemination and the history of Spain, Mexico and the Philippines in the era of visual culture", to which we invite all our readers from Mexico City to come to the Institute of Historical Research of the UNAM to meet us in person.
The international symposium, in any case, has proposed to analyze the constituent industries of the Spanish Pacific naval system, with particular emphasis on the material infrastructure of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon, including shipbuilding, manufactured products, administration, financing , ports, fortifications, labor, corporations or the very important raw materials, among other relevant topics. Likewise, the symposium will highlight the way in which the interaction between the various political entities of the Pacific basin (Asian, European and American) influenced the development of the institutions, industries and productive processes that constituted the infrastructure material from the Manila-Acapulco Galleon.
